World Breastfeeding Week begins in Savannah with weekend event

Healthy Savannah and the Coastal Health District officials are set to host a free event to celebrate World Breastfeeding Week on Saturday.

 The celebration is meant to spread awareness of breastfeeding, as well as families’ resilience, interdependence, self-determination and empowerment during the feeding process.

The event will feature breastfeeding education, giveaways from partners, a celebration walk, sign-ups for nutrition assistance programs and much more.

The event will be held on Aug. 1 at the Pennsylvania Avenue Recreation Center 425 Pennsylvania from 10-11:30 a.m.
