Savannah: ‘Georgia Food Oasis’ Community!

Savannah is one of five new Georgia Food Oasis communities! The Healthy Savannah Coalition’s application was approved based on the successes of many of our partners including Forsyth Farmers’ Market, UGA Chatham County Extension, Savannah Urban Garden Alliance, and many others! We are now one of eight GFO communities in Georgia which seek to connect and empower Georgians to healthier ways to eat, cook, and grow local, fresh food through access, events, and education. GFO collaborates with local organizations, businesses, growers, and residents within communities to self-develop innovative and affordable ways to discover, taste, and learn about food. Georgia Food Oasis is a starting point for communities to facilitate a bigger discussion on increasing access to truly healthy food.
