8 Dimensions of Wellness

 

Wellness is the process of becoming aware of and making choices towards a healthy and fulling life. We utilize the 8 Dimensions of Wellness model, which encompasses Physical, Occupational, Spiritual,Environmental, Financial, Social, Intellectual and Emotional wellness.  Click here to learn more about the Dimensions of Wellness.

Emotional: The awareness and acceptance of feelings and emotions. The degree to which one feels positive and enthusiastic about oneself and life. 

  • Expression of emotions

  • Positive attitude and outlook on life
  • Assertiveness and healthy boundaries
  • Intimacy
  • Interdependence
  • Independence

Financial: An understanding of your financial situation and taking care of it in such a way that you are prepared for financial changes. It is an intricate balance of the mental, spiritual, and physical aspects of money.

  • Stress management

Occupational: The ability to enjoy a chosen career and/or contribute to society through volunteer activities. Related to one’s attitude about one’s work, contribution of your unique gifts, skills, and talents to work that is personally meaningful and rewarding.

  • Opportunity to follow/pursue your passion
  • Share knowledge and experience

Social: The ability to perform social roles effectively, comfortably, and without harming others. Having positive interactions with and enjoying being with others. Having comfort and ease during work and leisure situations and communicating feelings and needs to others.

Environmental: The recognition of interdependence with nature. an awareness of the precarious state of the earth and the effects of your daily habits on the physical environment.

Intellectual: The openness to new concepts and ideas. Having a curiosity and strong desire to learn. Valuing many experiences, staying stimulated with new ideas, and sharing.

Physical: Maintenance of a healthy body through good nutrition, regular exercise, and avoidance of harmful habits.

Spiritual: The meaning and purpose of human existence. It includes the development of a deep appreciation for the depth and expanse of life and natural forces that exist in the universe.
