Healthy Savannah started its Healthy Walks series during the pandemic and have continued to offer those opportunities for people to gather, get exercise and stay healthy.
On Tuesday morning, the weekly community walk returned to Thunderbolt, one of seven local neighborhoods Healthy Savannah has identified as having obstacles to walking.
Narrow streets with no sidewalks or only sidewalks on one side can present a challenge for those who choose walking outside as their form of exercise.
“We want to make sure whenever people are going out to walk, they have the opportunity to do so without facing (obstacles)’’ said Devin Frails, Healthy Savannah’s physical activity program manager. ”We just want to give the people the opportunity to get healthy but have the opportunities to do so.’’
