Healthy Savannah, YMCA Coastal Georgia host health advocate training

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – Healthy Savannah and the YMCA of Coastal Georgia hosted a health advocate panel and training on Saturday to discuss health equity in our community and access to vaccines for illnesses like COVID-19, Shingles and the flu.

Organizers hope to support community advocates helping the community understand vaccines that are available, their importance and ensure community members have access to them. Leaders of the training say it is vital to go out and address the concerns of the community, especially those underrepresented and those with a lack of resources.

“Get well informed about all the vaccines that are available. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, don’t be afraid to get vaccinated,” Eva Alice explained. Alice is a community advocate with Healthy Savannah.
