(WTOC) – As working moms return to work after giving birth, did you know there are breastfeeding laws in the State of Georgia?
Dr. Elsie Smalls is the Breastfeeding Program Manager with Healthy Savannah. She joined WTOC’s Dawn Baker on ‘Welcome to our Community’ to discuss their initiative to help corporate America support working mothers.
Breastfeeding provides a variety of benefits to babies and mothers. The CDC reports that infants who are breastfed are less prone to develop conditions such as asthma, obesity, and type 1 diabetes, among others.
Breastfeeding benefits mothers by lowering high blood pressure, reducing the risk of ovarian and breast cancer, and type 2 diabetes. Only one in four infants is breastfed by the time they are six months old.
