Healthy Corner Store Initiative

Healthy Savannah works to make the healthy choice the easy choice for community members. The Healthy Corner Store Initiative is a key component in ensuring that community members have access to healthy options at local retailers. This initiative encourages local corner store owners to begin stocking fresh fruits and vegetables for their customers. Over time, Healthy Savannah hopes to add more stores to the initiative and foster a culture of health within Savannah.

Why is this initiative important?

Healthy Savannah conducts surveys on a regular basis to assess the needs of the community. Survey findings from 2020 found that 69% of Savannah residents that were surveyed wanted healthy products at corner stores.Want to enroll your local convenience store?

If there is a convenience store in your area that you would like to see invested in this community effort to enhance food access, please contact Dr. Deidre Grim at grimconsultingllc@gmail.com or Ruby Castro at ruby@healthysavannah.org.
