Hi! My name is Margaret Dunwoody. I am a 22 years old senior at Armstrong State University majoring in Public Health. I chose Healthy Savannah because I am very interested in nutrition and community involvement. This summer I am working through Healthy Savannah in connection with Health M Powers. So far I am involved in a focus group for children and adults covering food access, I am also involved in a windshield survey that speaks with local corner stores and convenient stores on the west side of Savannah about healthy options they are providing for the community.
My name is Laquasha Andrews and I’m 25 years old. At this moment, I’m a part-time student at Armstrong State University studying Psychology and I also work at the university full-time. Working and going to school is a balancing acting. At the same time, I’m very grateful that I have this job because the university provides full-time employees the opportunity to attend classes that are paid for by the university. I have been living in Savannah for five years, but I’m originally from Conyers, GA which is in Rockdale County. During my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, shopping, and laying out on the beach.
On the other hand, I chose Healthy Savannah because everyone does not have resources readily available to begin a healthy lifestyle. However, I have experienced the struggle that comes with weight gain and weight loss, and a healthy lifestyle can be a difficult, positive habit to maintain without the proper knowledge. Therefore, I want to express my journey and knowledge to others in hopes to encourage someone to become a better person spiritually, physically and emotionally.
While I’m interning with Healthy Savannah, I will focus on researching resources for worksite wellness and faith based wellness. I look forward to working with you all, and meeting new faces throughout my time with Healthy Savannah. Thank you all for having me.
